UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital Center for Interventional Psychiatry
UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital offers Spravato and IV ketamine treatment in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for adults 18 and over with depression that has not improved on standard care. Spravato is a nasal spray form of esketamine approved by the FDA, and patients stay two hours for observation afterward. IV ketamine runs about an hour, plus another hour of monitoring.
Both start at twice a week for four weeks. If symptoms improve, visits drop to weekly, then every other week, then taper.
Care begins with a psychiatric consultation to check whether the treatment fits. Patients need a ride home and cannot drive the rest of that day. The center also offers TMS and electroconvulsive therapy, and serves Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania.
