The Neuroscience Center
The Neuroscience Center provides ketamine treatment in Deerfield for people with depression, nerve pain, or substance use problems that have not responded to other care. Ketamine is given by infusion, and Spravato nasal spray is also available.
The center holds a patent on giving magnetic brain stimulation at the same time as a ketamine infusion. The idea is that ketamine opens a window where the brain can change more easily, and the magnetic pulses steer that change toward healthier patterns.
Dr. Steve Best has directed the center since 1996 and is board certified in psychiatry. Brain imaging is used to guide where treatment is aimed. Patients come from across the Chicago area.
Some ketamine treatments may qualify for insurance coverage. Patients should call to check whether they qualify.
Other costs
Per day of administration. A typical course of depression treatment runs about 30 sessions.
